Insert the micro-USB plug into the Kindle and the standard USB plug into your computer or into a plug adapter, which is then plugged into an electrical wall socket. If you want to use a plug adapter, you must purchase one or use a compatible plug adapter, such as the one that comes with the Kindle 2, Kindle Keyboard, or iPhone. In addition, the charger that comes with the Kindle Fire also works with the Kindle Paperwhite. When the Kindle Paperwhite is plugged into a power source and charging, the charge indicator light located next to the power button glows amber.
When the device is fully charged, the light turns green. The first time you charge your Kindle Paperwhite, the process will take about four hours. After that, charging through the USB cable and a computer takes about three hours and charging through the plug adapter takes one to two hours. The battery charge meter is in the upper-right corner of the Home screen.

Does It Matter Which Charger I Use?
Within a month, the silver metal piece that goes into the phone to charge has bent. All of the units I have received have been identical until the one I recently received from Cruzer Lite Wireless. I have uploaded and tagged five photos showing the details. This latest unit is larger, lower quality, and I suspect it may be a fake Chinese unit being sold as an official OEM BlackBerry product.
It's probably just a problem with Blackberry's design because I seen many complaints on message boards but the charger dosen't work. I have to plug it into an Apple or Samsung plug to charge my phone. Item arrived but discovered that the micro USB cable is NOT a genuine blackberry product, however the actual charger is.
In my opinion this should have been identified a little more clearly in the product description. Now that I have received it I see that it is worded very carefully. I had another OEM cable so using it with the charger. Would have returned but didn't want to waste any more time with it. I needed a small USB charger to carry in my backpack, and this one fits the bill perfectly. It's tiny, and more than powerful enough to charge any phone.
I think the iPad requires a 1amp charger, this is only a mA charger. I don't own an iPad, so I can't say if it will charge it. The iPad also requires some funky voltages on the data lines, so be warned.
It works well with my Nook Color running CM7, though. I wish it came with a longer cable, though. The one that comes with it is 3ft long. I'd prefer something closer to 6ft though, but those are cheap and easy to find. This is not just for Blackberry phones but can be used on other devices with a similar in put I am pleased with this service and the fact that the cord is strong enough and long enough that's all I need thank you Amazon. I must admit, I am not using this charger for its intended purpose.
Right away, I could see that the cord was much too short. The charger still works, however, so it's still useful. Overall, I prefer my HTC charger, but this is a decent replacement.
How to Charge Your Kindle Paperwhite
Last night, I plugged my phone in and it says that it was charging the bolt was there. I went online, did some research, and did a hard pull out. Plugged it back in after, again it said it was charging but it didn't. I had my own USB cord so I put that into my computer to see if it would charge, and it did. I then changed out the usb cord that came with the charger and used my own, and the phone charged.
Luckily, I had a USB cord that worked. The one that came with this package was VERY ill fitting- it was incredibly loose. See all reviews. Customers who viewed this item also viewed. I use my Kindle charger to charge my iPod Touch. In a Korean outlet. With a little adapter.
Dunno about your Blackberry, but it works for me. That should work. To understand this: The current rating on the power supply is NOT the amount that it outputs. That value is the maximum amount that the attached device should draw from it.
